The precipice
OPENING RECEPTION & BOOK SIGNING Saturday, October 19, 6 - 9
The Precipice explores the delicate boundary between life and death through the lens of a hospital photographer. Capturing the dramatic yet ordinary scenes of surgery, this project highlights the vulnerability of the human body and the profound process of healing. Through the series "The Precipice" – comprising the Surgical Theater, Morgue, and Tools – the work delves into the sterile, impersonal medical environment, using typological and anthropomorphic symbolism to represent the procedures and the bodies involved. This personal project seeks to create a visual narrative that underscores life's preciousness and the integral role of death, inviting a broader examination of cultural and personal associations with mortality. By presenting the body’s care after death, it challenges viewers to confront the tender vulnerability of human flesh and the inevitable approach of death, emphasizing that living is both a luxury and a dilemma.
